Hephaistos is a character in Immortals: Fenyx Rising.

Appearance[]

Hephaistos...

Personality[]

Hephaistos is mildly eccentric but generally helpful. The god seeks the awknowledgment of his family, at one point saying, "I could make the gods something really great... if only they'd just ask me." He bears a grudge against Ares, at one point planning a collapsible spear for him which would retract just before the war god could deal the final blow. Hephaistos also becomes rather sullen when the topic of Aphrodite comes up, being fully aware that while he loves her, she does not reciprocate.

History[]

Born of Zeus and Hera, he was thrown off Olympos as an infant and raised on Lemnos. Upon learning of his parentage, he fashioned a golden throne for Hera that ensnared her as revenge for being thrown away. Dragged back to Olympos by Dionysos, Hephaistos agreed to free Hera in exchange for his position as the god of the forge and fire.

Zeus married Hephaistos to Aphrodite, stating that he "knew she would never touch him!", although she vocally did not agree to this union and instead slept with Ares on multiple occasions. At one point, Hephaistos literally caught the two in the act with a golden net, intending to have them punished. The other gods only laughed at this at Hephaistos let them go.

Role in game[]

Typhon trapped the god as an automaton after Hephaistos locked his memories away

Notes[]

  • Hephaistos is often depicted as lame, or walking with a limp. Only in the first DLC, A New God, does he actually display this though.

Trivia[]

  • Towards the end of the game, Hephaistos comments that he's getting a divorce from Aphrodite. In mythology, he succeeds, and later marries Aglaea, goddess of beauty and splendor.
  • When restoring the gods, Hephaistos is the only one of the four that Fenyx doesn't invoke by nam.
